The Great War

The great war between the Shin-Ra Company and the glorious town of Wutai was an event that was significant for the rise of the Shin-Ra company, as it marked their total world domination when it comes to planting reactors and milking Spirit Energy into Mako.

It all started when the Shin-Ra wanted to plant their umpteenth Mako reactor on the west of the Planet, particularly near the mountainous Wutai, as it would most probably be another fruitful source of Mako energy. Wutai, however, refused to co-operate with the Shin-Ra in their plans, as Wutai was a powerful town on its own, isolated from the rest of the Planet both geographically and in infrastructure. When Wutai refused to give their allegiance to the Company, it triggered the Shin-Ra to declare war upon Wutai.

The war was long and bloody. The citizens of Wutai, led by their fearless leader Godo Kisaragi, fought with all their strength, sending martial arts masters as well as skilled family men to fight and defend their pride and glory. Shin-Ra, determined to win their war, also sent all their forces to fight against Wutai, including their elite army SOLDIER. This is also when First Class SOLDIER Sephiroth was sent to fight in the Western continent, and fighting in this war would also become his career's highlight, as Sephiroth showed no mercy in using his abnormal strength whilst fighting.

In the end, the Shin-Ra's soldiers and their (artificial) strength outnumbered those of Wutai, and the citizens of Wutai bowed their heads in shame as they lost their war. The marking of the great war's end was approximately 6 years ago (around 2001), incidentally also the mark of the beginning of Anti-Shinra group AVALANCHE.

Wutai was now reduced to a mere tourist town, occasionally checked up on by the Shin-Ra's Turks and their condescending visits. The inhabitants of Wutai, once full of pride, now seem to have lost all hope, including their pessimistic leader Godo. However, his daughter, the blunt ninja Yuffie, seems to believe in Wutai's hidden strength and is determined to strengthen Wutai with Materia. (Or so she says?)
